Mrs. Roark is opening up applications for the Robotics Club for next school year! They want to begin working on some projects before the new school year starts, so current sixth and seventh grade students are able to fill out applications if they are interested in joining! Applications are due back to the office by Thursday, April 2nd, which is the day before Spring Break begins!
Today is the Golden Horseshoe Test for 8th Grade. Students who do not take it today will still be required to make up the test at a later date but will not be eligible to win a Golden Horseshoe. If your student is currently absent, they can arrive by 1:30 pm today and still take the test to qualify for the competition.
Students will be bringing home information about a Buffalo shirt sale sponsored by the BMS Social Studies Team. All proceeds go towards the 2026-2027 Possum Festival! There are two designs available as well as special options for staff. Details and pricing are attached.

Our Pi in the HERD Week wrapped up with a high-energy assembly where we announced competition winners, celebrated our Pi Digit champions, and crowned the winner of the Pie for the Herd Staff Showdown.
Students spent the week adopting digits of π, competing in the Herd Coin Stampede, and showing that math can be fun, competitive, and community-building.

The West Virginia Golden Horseshoe Test is a statewide exam that measures students’ knowledge of West Virginia history, and it’s an exciting opportunity for them to demonstrate what they’ve learned this year.
We ask that all 8th grade students arrive on time, well-rested, and ready to do their best, as testing will begin right after breakfast.
Students who score at the top across the state earn the prestigious title of “Knight or Lady of the Golden Horseshoe,” one of the highest academic honors for middle school students in West Virginia.
Let’s wish our 8th graders the best of luck tomorrow — we’re proud of the hard work they’ve put in!

We are proud to celebrate our students who participated in the West Virginia Legislature Page Program this year: Lucy Ball, Pierce Karr, Jace, Hager, & Kendall Morrison! 👏 The Page Program allows students in grades 6–12 to assist legislators during session while learning firsthand about the legislative process and how decisions are made that impact our state. Experiences like this help inspire the next generation of leaders, and we are so proud of these students for representing our school!

Today, invitations are going home with students who applied for and are being invited to join Buffalo's National Junior Honors Society chapter. The induction ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 6 pm. Current members as well as incoming members will need to attend this event.
EMELIA HARRIS - 8th Grade - February 2026 Student of the Month! Emelia is very sweet and helpful. She stays on top of her studies and is a great addition to any class.
ELIJAH GOSS - 8th Grade - February 2026 Student of the Month! Elijah has shown amazing resilience. He is friendly, kind, and hard-working.
GRANT DEERFIELD - 7th Grade - February 2026 Student of the Month! Grant is that student—the one every teacher hopes to have. His curiosity drives him to ask thoughtful, meaningful questions that deepen not only his own understanding but the entire class. Grant approaches every task with his best effort and a positive attitude that is contagious. He is quick to help classmates who may be struggling and does so with patience and encouragement. His enthusiasm for learning and his genuine kindness make him an absolute joy to have in the classroom.
MARLEE DAMRON - 7th Grade - February 2026 Student of the Month! Marlee is our February Student of the Month because she is such a sweetheart and a bright spot in our classroom. She brings a positive attitude to everything she does and is always one of the first to greet others with a smile. Marlee puts genuine effort into all of her work, no matter the assignment, and she consistently shows responsibility and pride in what she turns in. Her kindness, steady work ethic, and joyful presence make her a wonderful example for her classmates.
